Nestled quietly on Station Road in Brookdale, Prees, The Old Piggery Cafe is a delightful coffee shop that offers a truly charming and off-the-beaten-track experience. It’s the kind of place you might easily drive past without realizing the gem that lies within—yet once discovered, it quickly becomes a beloved local haven.
The cafe’s character is wonderfully unique, reflected in its quirky, relaxed atmosphere that perfectly complements its setting near a free motor museum showcasing the Grocott family’s historic transport collection. This adds an unexpected twist to your visit, making it as much a cultural excursion as a culinary one.
Visitors consistently praise the warm, friendly staff whose genuine care enhances every visit. As one delighted customer, Mark B, puts it, “The food, staff and feel of the place is fantastic. I feel very lucky to have it so close to home.” The Old Piggery Cafe delivers comfort food with a distinctive, homegrown touch—think hearty breakfasts and flavour-packed lunches served with real passion.
The breakfast offerings, especially, are a standout. From the lovingly prepared Hash Stacks— a signature dish carried over from their sister cafe at Combermere—to expertly brewed coffee, each bite and sip invites you to slow down and savor the simple pleasures. Sensory details come alive here: the crispy edges of perfectly cooked eggs, the earthy richness of freshly roasted coffee beans, and the satisfying warmth of meals that feel like a hug on a plate.
Practicality meets charm with ample parking and a dog-friendly policy, ensuring everyone can feel welcome. While the long, narrow layout may lack a bustling vibe, the tasteful decor — including an evocative old van inside — adds genuine character and invites relaxed comfort. As Wendy reflected, “The views are outstanding. Staff are so friendly and helpful and the food and coffee were fab.”
Coupled with the adjacent motor museum, The Old Piggery Cafe transcends the typical coffee stop, crafting not just a meal but a memorable outing. Whether you’re seeking a cozy breakfast retreat, a casual luncheon with friends, or simply a quiet spot to enjoy excellent coffee and immerse in local history, this is a destination that quietly impresses and lingers in your thoughts long after you leave.

Unless you knew this cafe was here , you would not stumble upon it . I didn't realise that the Piggery at Combermere were the proprietor's . Very laid back , excellent breakfast and a stroll around the free motor museum . Not the Ritz , but a nice , again quirky like the Piggery , place for a relaxed comfortable luncheon.

Lovely local cafe to me, great food & service. Just a little lacking on atmosphere, it's a long thin room. The decoration is great, & I love the old van, but there's just something missing in the atmosphere.

Had a great experience at The Piggery Cafe, near Prees. The same fantastic food that we have come to expect from this team, having had many coffees and Hash Stacks at the original establish at Combermere. Dog friendly too! The motor museum is well worth a look.
